Create a fun, patchwork and appliqué bag with a camera motif from this bag pattern by Minki Kim, which you can also embellish with a little embroidered patch on the back to add interest to both sides of the bag.

The appliqué is created using fusible raw-edge appliqué, but you can adapt to suit your preferred method of appliqué
Use your sewing machine and black thread for the thread-drawing outline around your camera appliqué to create interest and to give the appliqué camera definition

How would you describe your particular craft style? I am often attracted by everyday scenes; a linen kitchen towel with a bowl of fresh strawberries; my messy sewing table; tea time with my girlfriend … I try to remember those scenes or take snapshots for my drawing later. I like to make bags and pouches to adapt my drawings for usable, everyday items. I prefer to look at those ordinary, extraordinary beauties of everyday, rather than putting away in the drawer.

Did your distinctive style constantly evolving? I can get a bit lazy and sneaky when I have to repeat the same process. So, I always try to plan for something a little different and, usually, I’m very satisfied with the results. However, that doesn’t mean I always love what I come up with. In fact, I have a secret stash of my failures, I just don’t want to brag them. (Wink!)

Are you good at all the crafts you’ve tried? I think I’ve always tried what I’m most confident with. But I think it’s time to move on and try something new, such as a queen-size art quilt.

What sorts of crafts do you avoid like the plague? Believe it or not, I’ve never tried to make hexis. I’m very grateful for the people who create hexagon cheater panels.

Other than crafting, how do you like to spend your time? I like to read my favourite author’s novels over and over and still be touched by their special way of collecting words. I also love to watch Korean drama. My husband sometimes says I should stop, but I insist that I’m learning how to write a good script rather than wasting time watching soap operas.
