This simple but eye-catching quilt pattern is an effective way to showcase a coordinated palette of scraps. Kim Harris has chosen a selection of Japanese indigo-dyed print fabrics, but it lends itself just as readily to pretty florals, brights, pastels or solid fabrics.
- Full materials list included in the instructions
- Detailed step-by-step instructions illustrated with diagrams take you through each stage of making this project from cutting the fabrics, strip-piecing four-patch blocks, laying them out and assembling them through to quilting and binding
- No patterns to trace: all the fabric cutting is done with rotary cutter, ruler and a Companion Angle ruler
- Blocks are set together with unpieced alternate squares in an 'on point' layout
- Choose an accent fabric - Kim has used red - to provide cohesion to the design
- Strip piecing, simple shapes and the use of unpieced alternate squares between the four-patch blocks means that this quilt comes together quite quickly
- It's easy to vary the size of the quilt: just make more or fewer blocks
- Suitable for a beginner quiltmaker who has mastered an accurate 1/4in seam
