Vicki Knight decided to bring some dancing to the garden when she was designing her wildly wonderful appliqued leaves, calyxes and flower centres quilt pattern. We see it as a merry jig rather than a gentle waltz!

  • Full materials list included in instructions
  • Detailed step-by-step instructions, colour photographs and clear diagrams take you through the each step of this quilted cushion pattern.
  • Pattern sheet is included with templates for the appliqued leaves, calyxes and flower centres templates, ready for tracing.
  • This is an excellent quilt on which to practice your free-machine quilting. The busyness of the string blocks will hide any flaws in your work, so just relax and experiment.
  • For the appliqued flower stems, its best to cut them on the bias as it will allow you to curve the stems easily and have them lie flat on your quilt top.
  • Quilt as desired. Vicki used a walking foot to stitch in the ditch; free-motion quilted around the applique shapes and finished with a large meandering pattern on the border.
  • This project is recommended for an intermediate crafter who would like to extend their free-motion quilting skills.
