What crafts do you do? Sewing, Patchwork, Quilting, Machine Embroidery, Hand Embroidery, Crochet
How long have you been crafting? Since I was old enough to hold a needle & thread or crochet hook. I have photos of me sitting on my Aunty’s lap when I was 4 years old, learning how to knit.
Who taught you your skills? I was very lucky to be surrounded by highly skilled ladies as I grew up. My Mum, Aunty and Nanna gave me an incredibly strong foundation and I taught myself the rest.
Is crafting your hobby or your profession? My Passion! It is both my hobby and my profession. I work at Handcrafters House in Midland, WA plus I have my own small hobby business at home making quilt labels and binding quilts called Labelled & Bound.
Do you teach/publish your skills and projects? If so where and please tell us more. I have only ever been published in Homespun Magazine before but I do teach a variety of projects and techniques at Handcrafters House in Midland, WA.
What do you love most about crafting?I thoroughly enjoy the creative freedom I have and the ability to share the joy with other people. I find it so therapeutic and get quite fidgety if I don’t have some form of craft with me at all times. I always carry an extra bag besides my handbag that is toting my latest travelling project.
What is your proudest crafting moment/achievement? I think the proudest moment was when my humble little crocheted baby throw was published in Homespun Magazine. I was trembling with shock when they contacted me. Following that moment, many doors of opportunity have opened and my teaching has taken off into many other facets.
