How would you describe your particular craft style? My embroidery is happy, colourful, a bit messy and not very serious.

Did your distinctive style happen over time or was it immediate when you started stitching? I think my embroidery’s a work in progress and always will be. But there are threads that go way back. My love of drawing and flowers have always been there and pop up again and again.

Are you good at all the crafts you have tried? Not at all! Apart from knit and purl, knitting seems a complete mystery to me. One to admire from a distance.

Other than crafting, how do you like to spend your time? I love to draw. And paint when I have the time. Walking the dog and taking pictures of wildflowers. We live near London, and I love spending an afternoon meandering through the streets or parks there. Visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum is also a favourite thing to do.

Is your stitching a great diversion from tasks you’d prefer to avoid (eg: housework)? Housework, what housework?

If the good fairy granted you three wishes, what would you like them to be? More hours in the day! There’s never enough time to work on all the ideas. Teleportation would be good, too, so it would be easier to visit my family in Denmark and the US. And, can I have an endless supply of colourful pens and embroidery thread, please?

Do you listen to music, watch TV or listen to radio while you sew … what do you like to listen to/watch? I often listen to podcasts or Danish radio when I am stitching. Occasionally I’ll watch a documentary or episodes of West Wing for the umpteenth time. I can’t watch or listen to anything that requires too much attention, otherwise I can’t focus on the stitching. Sometimes, weather permitting, I just have the window open and listen to the birds and the wind.

Do you like craft shopping alone or with friends? I love craft shopping with friends but, sadly, I rarely have the opportunity to do so. There’s no craft shopping in the place where we live, so it requires a bit of a trip to find myself in a craft shop.

You have had a book/s published of your work haven’t you? I have been lucky enough to have two books published. Stitched Blooms, in 2013 (Lark Crafts), which is full of flowers and leaves and pretty borders. Romantic Motifs (Search Press) was published in 2016 and is a collection of motifs perfect for romantic occasions and projects where you want some hearts, birds, flowers and butterflies.
